Web fonts are definitely the next big thing in designing for the web. But for those of you just starting with web fonts and learning how they work, the task can be a little daunting. However, have no fear! Google is making web fonts easy. Once again Google has stepped up and created an easy tool for using web fonts on your website. Essentially, the steps are pretty straight forward. Follow the 4 easy steps below and you will be using web fonts on your website in no time.
- Go to http://www.google.com/webfonts
- Select the font that you want to use (styles and characters)
- Add the provided snippet of code in between the <head></head> tags of your webpage.
- Integrate the fonts into your CSS stylesheet (essentially add the font name to the styles that you want to use your web font).
That is it! Four simple steps for you and the Google Web Fonts API will do all of the hard work for you. Of course you are limited to the fonts they have available, but with all of the font-families that are available, I would hardly call it limited!
